| CWF Flooring, Inc. introduces its American-made Shock Pad for Artificial Grass under turf, a sub floor for under sport turf- engineered with a specialized rubber blend for superior durability, ankle stability, and traction.
This innovative material incorporates a polyurethane foam composite to provide industry-leading anti-fatigue properties, ensuring maximum comfort and safety. |
SUPERIOR DURABILITY Rubber maintains its shock-absorbing properties longer without compressing or breaking down over time, unlike foam which can lose resilience with heavy use. |
EXCELLENT DRAINAGE Porous rubber allows rapid water passage, preventing pooling and keeping fields playable in wet conditions; some foam types absorb water or drain slower. |
||
CONSISTENT PERFORMANCE Rubber provides uniform G-max ratings and energy restitution across the field lifespan, while foam may compact overtime and develop hard spots. |
INDOOR/OUTDOOR VERSATILITY Rubber excels in both settings without degradation from UV or weather, whereas certain foams are less suitable for prolonged outdoor exposure. |
||
LONG-TERM VALUE Rubber pads often outlast multiple turf replacements and are reusable, reducing costs compared to foam that may need earlier replacement. Choose rubber for safer, more reliable sports surfaces that stand up to intense play. |
NON-PERMANENT APPLICATION Shock pads are installed in 50 foot long rolls, hence, they can be relocated in 50 foot rolls. If the weather does not permit outdoor training; the shock pads, along with the artificial turf can be relocated indoors. |

| Here are common questions and answers about shock pad for under artificial grass turf: |
Superior Durability: Rubber underlayment withstands heavy foot traffic and compression without degrading over time, unlike polyethylene closed-cell foam which can compress and lose effectiveness in high-use areas. |
Better Shock Absorption: Rubber provides excellent impact absorption, making it ideal for sports fields, playgrounds, or high-activity zones, reducing injury risk more effectively than foam which may not handle high-impact as well. |
Heat Stability: Rubber remains stable under heat exposure and doesn't deform, ensuring consistent performance in outdoor settings, whereas foam can lose shape or compress in varying temperatures. Noise Reduction: Rubber significantly reduces footfall and impact noise with higher noise reduction coefficients, offering better acoustic insulation for indoor or residential applications compared to foam.. |
Long-Term Value: Due to its resistance to wear, rubber lasts longer and requires fewer replacements or repairs, providing better cost-efficiency over time than foam which may need more frequent maintenance. |
Environmental Sustainability: Many rubber underlays are made from recycled materials, making them more eco-friendly and sustainable than polyethylene foam, which can be harder to recycle and less environmentally beneficial. |
Enhanced Comfort: Rubber offers superior cushioning and a more substantial feel underfoot, improving overall comfort for walking or playing, beyond the moderate cushioning provided by foam. |

| Here are common questions and answers about shock pad for under artificial grass turf: |
1.What is a rubber shock pad? A shock pad is an elastomeric layer, often rubber or foam installed between the sub-base and the artificial turf. It is typically made from recycled rubber granules, foam, or a combination of both to absorb impact energy. Rubber shock pad is more durable and feels more like natural grass. |
2. Why is it necessary for sports fields? It significantly reduces the risk of injuries, such as concussions and joint strain, by providing consistent cushioning. It also helps fields meet mandatory safety standards like G-Max (shock attenuation) and Critical Fall Height (CFH). |
3. How long do rubber shock pads last? High-quality rubber pads are extremely durable and can last at least 25 years or two full turf life cycles. Many shock pads do not need to be replaced when the top layer of turf is swapped. |
4. Does the pad affect water drainage? Yes, most pads are designed with vertical and lateral drainage channels or high porosity to prevent water pooling on the surface. This ensures fields remain playable quickly after heavy rain. |
5. What are the main types of rubber shock pads? Prefabricated: Factory-made rolls or interlocking panels delivered to the site. In-Situ (E-Layer): Mixed and poured directly on-site for a seamless, monolithic surface. |
6.Can shock pads extend the life of the turf? Yes. By acting as a buffer, the pad reduces friction and abrasion between the turf backing and the hard sub-base, preventing premature fiber degradation. |
7. Are they suitable for both indoor and outdoor use? Yes. For outdoor fields, they are engineered to withstand UV exposure and temperature fluctuations. For indoor facilities, they provide essential cushioning over hard concrete floors. |
8. Does it drain well for indoor use? Many models have perforated backing for drainage, preventing water buildup from spills or cleaning. |
9. What thickness should be used? Thickness typically ranges from 10mm to 25mm depending on the sport and safety requirements. Thicker pads generally provide higher fall height protection, which is critical for playgrounds and high-impact sports like rugby or football.. |
10. Is it environmentally friendly? Yes, it's made from recyclable materials, requires no pesticides or water, and some options are lead-free for safe indoor environments. |
11. Are rubber shock pads environmentally friendly?? Most are made from 90% or more recycled post-consumer rubber. They are often 100% recyclable at the end of their long lifespan, making them a sustainable choice for modern sports infrastructure. |
12. Our preschool has those children's puzzle mats. We would like to replace them with indoor grass turf for our play area. What do you think? It depends what type of activity will be conducted on the indoor grass turf. If you have kickball, pickle ball or any type of ball sport then this will provide a safe surface. However, if you plan to tumble or wrestle then perhaps folding gym mats will be a safer option.
|
11. Our artificial turf installer wants to know how heavy are the rolls? We'll need approximately 3680 sq. ft.?? It weighs approximately 1.45 lbs. per sq. ft. (0.65 Kilograms) so, a 4ft. wide x 25ft. roll would weigh 145 lbs. (65.77 kilograms). A 4ft. x 50ft. roll would weigh 290 lbs. (131.54 kilograms). If you limited labor force to assist you then we suggest the 25ft. long rolls. In addition, the 25ft. roll would be easier to relocate the indoor or outdoor sport turf. See below 50ft. shock pad roll for under grass turf.
